A sexual deviant is an individual who engages in sexual activities outside of society’s norms. These behaviors can be described as “abnormal” or “abnormally deviant.”
These behaviors can be either intentional or unintentional. One example of a sexual deviant is pedophilia.
Necrophilia
The term necrophilia can mean several different things. The first is the desire to molest the dead; in this case, it has a negative connotation. The second is a condition in which the dead are treated with sexually inappropriate affection. While true necrophilia is a rare affliction, it does occur. Those who have this sexual deviant tend to have few victims and may have to hide their activities.
People with this disorder are deeply disturbed by feelings of inferiority and profound lack of self-esteem. As a result, they are extraordinarily sensitive to rejection. In addition to this, the victims are particularly afraid of the dead. These feelings are transformed into elaborate fantasies about corpses in a process known as reaction formation. Necrophiles will then act on these hidden desires, particularly if their environment allows it.
Paraphilia
Paraphilia is a term referring to an uncommon interest in sexual acts, such as fondling and genital stimulation. These behaviors are considered abnormal when they cause distress or threaten to cause physical harm. Paraphilic behaviors tend to revolve around an object or behavior, and can occur in both men and women. While both genders may experience paraphilia, men tend to show the majority of the symptoms.
Psychosocial factors may contribute to the development of paraphilic interest in adolescents. Such behaviors can be harmful to public health and should be addressed. Understanding what causes paraphilic interest may help identify those at risk.
Pedophilia in a sexually mature adult
Pedophilia is a type of neurological disorder in which a person has repetitive thoughts and urges and tries to fulfill these urges through immoral behavior. These individuals often experience shame and regret after such behaviors. While there is no known cure for pedophilia, treatment can help a person become less susceptible to paedophilic urges. Treatment also focuses on changing a person’s sexual orientation and preventing further offenses.
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition, pedophilia can be diagnosed in an adult who experiences sexual fantasies and sexual behavior toward prepubescent children. Pedophilia is a psychiatric disorder that causes marked distress and interpersonal difficulty.
Paraphilia in a sexually immature adult
Paraphilia is a deviant sexual preference that interferes with mutually satisfying sexual activity. The disorder can cause suffering and may even lead to the harm of oneself or another. Paraphilic behavior can be diagnosed in three ways. Patients do not typically volunteer this information.
The first step is to determine the cause of paraphilic behavior. Paraphilic behavior often involves an intense desire to engage in sexual intercourse. This urge is based on an interest in sexual intercourse, which may be nonhuman. Psychosocial factors can also influence the intensity of sexual interest.
Necrophilia in a sexually immature adult
The disorder of necrophilia in a sexually immatures adult is characterized by sexual fantasies that begin with fear of dead bodies. This fear turns into a fervent fantasy of having sex with corpses. This sexual fantasy is observed in humans, birds, reptiles, and frogs. It was first described by Robert Dickerman who named it after a limerick. Today, this disorder is commonly referred to as sexual cannibalism. Various species, such as ground squirrels, practice this behavior.
Necrophilia in a sexual immature adult is a crime that can be punished under criminal law. The crime is considered to be an abominable act and must be punished by law. While it does not pose an imminent danger to society, it does offend society in other ways. Those who engage in necrophilia should be subject to incarceration.
