In the 1960s and 1980s, the sexual revolution in America changed the way people think about sexuality. We began to accept and encourage many sexual acts that deviated from biblical teachings.

This created a culture of sexual immorality. Identifying and understanding this trend requires a biblical perspective.

Adultery

In a nutshell, adultery is a sexual sin that harms other people. While sex is a natural bodily function that should be fulfilled, there are negative consequences to pursuing a sexual relationship without a clear understanding of its ethical implications. The consequences of not satisfying a person’s sex demands can have long-lasting consequences, which include both the individual and the relationship.

Adultery is defined as sexual intercourse between two people who are not married. It is also commonly called cheating, and it violates the fidelity and trust that a marriage requires. Many relationships break up because of adultery, and it can occur in any type of relationship.

Harlotry

Harlotry and sexual immorality are sins that defy God’s law. Harlotry is the spirit that lures and encourages people to commit sexual sin. This spirit is very subtle and requires spiritual discernment to recognize. Unfortunately, many Christians have fallen victim to its influence.

The word “harlot” in the Old Testament was used for a prostitute or other dissolute woman. In the Septuagint, the word “porne” means “unchaste woman.” In addition, the word “harlot” was used to describe the immoral service of idols.

The Bible warns Christians to avoid sexual immorality. It mentions both in Corinthians 10:7 and 2 Tim. 3:9. The Apostle Paul says that these two sins are not acceptable for believers.

Porneia

Porneia is a broad term that describes extramarital sexual intercourse. While it is sometimes used in the context of masturbation, it also refers to sex with others, including telesex. There is a great deal of controversy over the definition of porneia.

The word porneia was originally used to refer to prostitution, but later came to mean any illicit sexual relations, regardless of gender. Today, the term is most commonly translated as “sexual immorality.” The New Testament mentions the term at least 26 times, including in Matthew 5:32 and Mark 7:21. In addition, the word is also used in Acts 15:20 and Romans 1:29.

Porneia is against the seventh commandment, which states that all activities which arouse sexual desire are forbidden. It is not only sinful, but also against the will of God. Anyone who commits porneia will be judged by God and will have to repent.

Illegitimate sexual intercourse

Illegitimate sexual intercourse is a sin against God and his Word. It is also called fornication and pornography. While there are many translations of the Greek word porneia, the most common translations are sexual immorality and unchastity. The Greek word porneia appears in the New Testament at least 26 times, including Matthew 5:32, Mark 7:21, Acts 15:20, and Romans 1:29-23.

Illegitimate sexual intercourse is prohibited in the seventh commandment. This commandment also prohibits activities that arouse sexual desire and lead to intercourse. Porneia is a type of pornography. Both of these are considered a sinful activity by the Church.

Bestiality

A recent study shows that one-quarter of Australians do not believe in God or a universal spirit. Another seven percent do not know whether they believe in God at all. A recent court case in South Australia addressed bestiality and sexual immorality. Three people, all in their fifties, pleaded guilty to offences involving domestic dogs. They received suspended prison sentences.

Sweden is known as one of the most sexually progressive countries in the world. Yet a recent study published in the national daily Dagens Nyheter found that since the 1970s there have been more than two hundred documented cases of animal sexual abuse. The study used information from over 1,600 questionnaires sent to police agencies, veterinarians and animal welfare inspectors. Of the 200 cases, 119 were documented in the period 2000 to 2004, and a total of 171 cases were reported in the 1980s and 1990s.
