The Frat House is a unique gay bar that offers a dance floor, cocktails, and pool table nights. The venue features a mostly male crowd, and they host drag shows on weekends.
It’s a Latino night dance floor
You can’t go wrong by having a night at The Frat House. They have a dance floor, a pool table and a bar. Their cover is $10 a person. There are weekly events like Sombras Latinas and Country Night. You can even have line-dancing lessons.
Another fun thing to do is check out SIN Night at the District Lounge. There’s a dance floor, a pool table, cocktails and a bar. DJ Leo does a good job spinning old salsa and hip hop. Plus, you can get in free if you are wearing a G-string!
If you’re looking for a more low-key evening, you might want to check out Cuban Pete’s. Their dance floor is small, but they have a great crowd. They’ve got a lot of DJs, including one who spins salsa en espanol.
It hosts concerts
The Frat House has been around since the early 1980s and is a raucous affair. It’s one of the few gay bars in Orange County, and with such a large male contingent it’s hard to believe it’s still operating as it did back in the day. Aside from its famous bar, the venue also hosts some great live shows. Whether it’s a ‘big name’ act or a local gem, you’re in for a treat. From karaoke to pool parties to drag shows, there’s something for everyone. There’s no doubt it’s the best spot in town for a night on the town.
It was a venue for cross-dressing
The Frat House is the last gay bar in Garden Grove. Before the gay rights movement of the 1960s and 1970s, it was illegal to cross-dress or dance with your same-sex partner in most parts of the U.S. But once the movement began, the Frat House became a venue for the local LGBTQ community. In the 1980s, it was a center for HIV/AIDS information. Now, the Frat House is closed on Tuesdays.
For a while, the Frat House was open 365 days a year, and landowners on either side of the bar tried to buy it. Eventually, owner Ted Heier rejected the offers. His father eventually came out, and he decided to start his own business, a place where the LGBTQ community could hang out. Unfortunately, it was not until 2013 that he died.
It’s now closed Tuesdays
Frat House, formerly known as the Fire Alarm, is a retro-styled frat bar and pool hall located in Garden Grove. The establishment is a good ol’ fashioned gay bar with a very loyal male following. Despite the name, the establishment actually features a full bar, a jukebox, and a dance floor. It’s also a great place to watch a movie on the large screen television. In addition to a full bar, the establishment is a hotspot for weekend drag shows and dancing. There’s even a pool table for those who want to stay out of the rain. And if you’re into the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, you’ll be pleased to know that the frat bar is located within walking distance of Disneyland.
While the frat house is closed on Tuesdays, it is still a fun place to check out. Check out the website for more information about the bar and its events.
It’s a GoFundMe page
